Building decks in Babylon
The south end of Babylon is canal and bay country, where building on a bulkheaded lot is a different job from an inland backyard: salt-rated hardware, attention to the flood elevation, and a layout that keeps the water view open. The Village of Babylon runs its own building department, separate from the Town, so permits depend on exactly where the house sits. Inland, the stock is colonials, capes and expanded ranches on standard lots where a ground-level deck into a patio usually makes the most sense.
