Building decks in Deer Park
Deer Park sits inland in the Town of Babylon, which handles its permits, and it built out with post-war splits, hi-ranches and expanded ranches on compact-to-moderate lots. A lot of these houses carry their main living floor well above grade, which is why so many Deer Park decks end up multi-level: a landing off the kitchen door and a run of stairs down to the yard rather than a single platform. Getting those stair runs right (comfortable rise, footings below the frost line, code-compliant railings) is most of the work.
