Rain Escape is an innovative deck waterproofing and gutter system that transforms the space beneath your deck into a dry, usable area. By channeling water away through an integrated drainage system, it protects your deck's structure from moisture damage while creating additional covered outdoor space perfect for storage or entertaining.
How Is It
Applied?
Rain Escape is installed by attaching a waterproof membrane system to the underside of your deck joists. All seams are carefully taped to prevent leakage, creating a completely sealed barrier. This captures and channels water into built-in gutters and downspouts, keeping the area beneath completely dry.

How Does It Look?
Rain Escape creates a waterproof barrier underneath your deck with an integrated gutter system that's sleek and almost unrecognizable. We can also install a vinyl ceiling beneath the system to create a clean, finished soffit-like appearance that transforms exposed joists into a polished outdoor ceiling.
Installed by Level Line across Nassau and Suffolk County
Level Line is a certified RainEscape installer and installs the system across Nassau and Suffolk County, built into a new deck or retrofitted under the deck you already have. The company is family-owned by Mark Villarico, has built on Long Island since 1996 and has completed more than 4,000 projects, and it is licensed in both counties. The estimate at the house is free.
What it goes under
The system sits at the joists, so it goes under any decking Level Line installs: composite boards from Trex, TimberTech and Fiberon, PVC from Azek, or cedar, pressure-treated lumber, mahogany and ipe. The boards above it are chosen the way they are on any deck, for the exposure, the look and the upkeep you want.
A deck that will carry the system is framed with it in mind: the membrane is set to carry the water to a gutter, the gutter and the downspouts are placed where the water should leave, and near the water every hanger, bracket, bolt and fastener is rated for salt exposure. The space below can be finished with a vinyl ceiling that hides the system. Under an existing deck the system is retrofitted at the joists the deck already has, and when a deck is resurfaced or replaced it goes in with the new boards.

Where does the water go?

The membrane catches the water that comes through the deck boards and carries it to a gutter, and the downspouts take it away from the house, so the space below stays dry.
Can it go under the deck I already have?

Yes. Level Line retrofits the system under an existing deck as well as building it into a new one, and when a deck is resurfaced or replaced it goes in with the new boards.
Does it need a permit?

The system goes in with the deck it belongs to, on the same permit. Level Line prepares the drawings for the application, unless an architect is assigned to the job. You submit the application with what Level Line provides, Level Line arranges and attends the inspections, and Mark is available by phone throughout. How long approval takes varies by town and by inspector.
Can the space below be finished?

Yes. A vinyl ceiling can be installed beneath the system so the joists read as a finished outdoor ceiling.
How long does it take?

Builds run from one day to two to four weeks, depending on size and scope. On a new deck the system goes in with the frame; under an existing deck it is its own short job.

The decking you choose is covered by its manufacturer's warranty. Level Line registers that warranty for you and handles any claim with the manufacturer on your behalf.
