Building decks in Long Beach
Long Beach is a barrier-island city with its own building department and its own rules. Most of the island sits in FEMA flood zones, and after Hurricane Sandy a lot of homes were raised, which changed how decks and stairs attach. Elevated builds, rooftop decks and salt-everything hardware are the norm here, not the exception. Lots are tight and close to the ocean, so wind exposure and corrosion resistance drive the material and fastener choices on every job.
