Building decks in Lake Grove
Lake Grove is an incorporated village with its own building department, separate from the surrounding Town of Brookhaven, so permits here go through the Village. The housing is largely 1960s and 70s splits and ranches on moderate, mostly level lots, which keeps decks straightforward: ground-level or a step or two down from a kitchen slider into a patio. Composite is the default locally, and the usual question is how much of the backyard to trade for the deck.
