Building decks in Islandia
Islandia is a small incorporated village inside the Town of Islip, set in central Suffolk near the LIE: a straightforward permitting picture and a mostly newer housing stock of ranches and colonials on moderate lots. Grade is gentle across the village, so most decks are ground-level or a step down from the kitchen, flowing into a paver patio. With regular suburban lots, the design question is simply how much of the yard the deck should take versus leaving open lawn.
